Devising Unlocked is TalkShow’s unique CPD programme for secondary drama teachers.

Teachers will learn concrete devising strategies to create highly visual material with inventive use of space.

Devising Unlocked gives teachers new tools to generate material based on stimulus and develop and structure a performance, all guided by TalkShow artists with over 15 years of experience devising with young people and leading teacher CPD internationally.

The Sessions

The Sessions will:

  • Draw on TalkShow’s inventive use of image and space
  • Give teachers a wide range devising tools to use with students
  • Offer teachers tools for structuring and developing a devising process
  • Demonstrate how to create and develop material quickly, from a single stimulus
  • Inspire and reinvigorate the teacher’s own creativity
  • Provide you with session plans and digital resources

We offer three types of high impact, one-off session for teachers:

  • 2 hours (twilight workshop)
  • Half day
  • Full day

Session Leaders

Sessions are led by Clare Dunn & Stu Barter (TalkShow co-artistic directors).

Clare and Stu’s 18-year education practice includes extensive directing and devising work at secondary and undergraduate level, as well as international creative teacher CPD. They have worked with Glyndebourne Youth Opera, Reading University, V&A Museum, Rose Bruford College, Oxford School of Drama, Derby Theatre, Artis Foundation (UK and South Korea), New Wimbledon Theatre, V&A Museum, The Lowry Young Company, Central School of Speech and Drama, Sevenoaks School and Kent Academies Network.

Outside of TalkShow’s 10-year history they have collaborated with artists such as Gecko, Dante or Die, Fast Familiar, Tall Stories, Dead Centre, Victoria Melody, Quiconque, Compagnie Le Passe-Muraille (France), One Tenth Human and New Writing South.
